PostSubject: "Someone Like You" Wins Tenth "Song of the Year"   Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:44 pm, the Madison, WI-based online sheet music retailer and publisher, announced today that Adele's hit song "Someone Like You," from her album, 21, has won the tenth annual Song of the Year Award.

"Someone Like You" surpassed all previous Song of the Year records - selling more than double the previous record-holder, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

The song's writers, Adele Adkins and Daniel Wilson are both recipients of the award, joining the ranks of previous winning songwriters including Leonard Cohen, Linda Perry and Vanessa Carlton. Universal Music Publishing Ltd. and Chrysalis Music Ltd., the song's publishers, will likewise be receiving Musicnotes "Publisher of the Year" awards.

Musicnotes has previously presented awards to Leonard Cohen ("Hallelujah"),Vanessa Carlton ("A Thousand Miles"), Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful"), Evanescence ("My Immortal"), Tom Higgenson ("Hey There Delilah"), Marcus Hummon, Bobby Boyd and Jeff Hanna ("Bless the Broken Road"), Daniel Powter ("Bad Day"), Jon Mabe and Jessi Alexander ("The Climb") and Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon ("Don't Stop Believin'). Adele's "Someone Like You" joins them as the recipient of the 2011 Song of the Year Award as the best-selling sheet music piece at throughout 2011.

Adele will be performing live at the 54th Annual Grammy awards on February 12, 2012. It will be her first performance since undergoing vocal cord surgery last fall.
