Through new version, fans can keep track of all their favourite artists and get suggestions of new artists to follow based on their existing music choices with Flowd

WHAT: Love music but struggle to keep up with what all your favourite artists are up to? Flowd, the music lover’s social network, today announced that through their series of new updates, every major artist worldwide can be followed through its web and mobile applications. Music fans can now follow artistactivities including news, latest singles, photos, videos and upcoming gigs of any of their favourite artists through Flowd. Coupled with exciting new features, this update cements Flowd’s reputation as the must-have tool for music lovers.

Flowd now offers users access to an intelligent gig calendar so they can find out where their favourite artists are next performing near them and make plans to see them in action. This gig calendar is powered by an individual artist populating his profile with his upcoming appearances as well as comprehensive data imported through an integration with Last.fm APIs. Users can filter their calendar view date and location, so with Flowd, fans can now find out about the music experiences taking place wherever and whenever they are.

If artists aren’t already using Flowd themselves, artist profiles and the gig calendar will be populated with data from artist activity on other social networks including Twitter, YouTube, SoundCloud and Last.fm. This brings tremendous value for any music lovers who want a dedicated tool to follow the music artists that they love, and enables these artists to engage even deeper with their fans. Artists who haven’t registered with Flowd directly are able to ‘claim’ their accounts through an artist verification tool.

Along with the enhanced tools opening up Flowd to all music acts, Flowd has also added a new feature to its iPhone and Android applications that allows users to showcase the music that they’re listening to at that moment to other Flowd users and friends on other social networks. When a user turns on this feature, Flowd scans the mobile device to find out what music is currently being played (or if nothing is being played, then what the last track played was) and then pulls this as a shout-out within Flowd. This shout-out can then be cross-posted onto Facebook and Twitter with a direct link for friends and followers to check out the track on iTunes (for iPhone) or 7 Digital (for Android).

These new features mean that Flowd has gone one step further in cementing its reputation as the social network for music lovers and is now the must-have application for music fans across the world who want to keep up to date with their favourite artists.

GET STARTED: Music fans can download Flowd for free from the iTunes App Store, Android Market and Nokia Ovi store. Fans can find their favourite bands under Artists and get regular news, views and photos by following them. Fans can also discover more about artists’ upcoming gigs by clicking on Events on the artist’s profile, listen to their latest tracks, and watch their latest videos under Music.

By using Flowd, music fans can also use a wide range of social networking features including check-in to places, send messages and pictures, share the music that they’re listening to and connect with friends through Twitter and Facebook. Fans can also customize the look and feel of Flowd by re-skinning the app with artists’ themes. Flowd allows music fans to keep up to date with artists’ news and views, track and check-in to latest gigs and appearances and view photos and videos.

Artists can also reward their fans for their loyalty by using Flowd’s Frequent Fans tool. This provides artists with a comprehensive marketing tool that allows them to issue tailored Offers to fans through in-app mobile coupons. Flowd will be rolling out new features to its Frequent Fans tool over the next six months.
