PostSubject: Albums of the Decade!   Sat Oct 03, 2009 4:09 pm

Every year I do an albums of the year, have done since I started writing about music professionally, for my honest isaac column for the Coalville Times.
This year will be no exception, I'm already formulating a list in fact...
However this year, there's also the albums of the decade to think about!
Any thoughts, people? I'm going away to have a think and report back.

Looking back through my previous albums of the year, I 've decided that these all deserve a mention -
Arcade Fire's Funeral (2005), LCD Soundsystem's Sound Of Silver (2007), Portishead's Three (2008) and The Libertines' self titled album (2004).
Pitchfork have done a top 100 on this, and Radiohead's Kid A (2000) came top - maybe not my number one of the decade, but it's definitely up there.

Sales wise, the best selling album of the 2000s is The Beatles' 1 (2000), but as a compilation I don't think you can count it really.
Next best selling of the decade are Backstreet Boys with Black And Blue (2000) and Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory (2000), both having sold around 24 million worldwide, alongside Britney's Oops... I Did It Again (2000), Norah Jones's Come Away With Me (2002), Shakira's Laundry Service (2001) and Usher's Confessions (2004), all on 20 million sales.
Any of those float your boats?
