Every year I do an albums of the year, have done since I started writing about music professionally, for my honest isaac column for the Coalville Times.
This year will be no exception, I'm already formulating a list in fact...
However this year, there's also the albums of the decade to think about!
Any thoughts, people? I'm going away to have a think and report back.

Touched base with a new PR company this week, who kindly sent me across a wad of CDs.

Sadly all of them were already out in the shops, so I can't find space for them on the blog.

However some of them deserve a mention, so here you are, Purple PR.

Guitar wizard Newton Faulkner's new album, Rebuilt By Humans, is out now, and worth a listen.

Ian Brown?

I've been brutally attacked for the mere suggestion that My Way, monkey-faced singer Ian Brown's latest album, isn't that great on my blog.

It isn't, in my opinion, but I thought I would even up the odds by posting something brilliant by him here, to show I haven't got a grudge.

So please enjoy this, and let me know if you think I'm a "cad" and an "idiot" for not loving My Way below.

Film soundtracks

A colleague of mine, Matt Jarram, writes a movie blog and we have spoken a few times about music in film, and which are the all-time best movie soundtracks.

Personally, I have to say Spawn's soundtrack was an absolute blinder - although the movie itself stank.

It basically saw dance acts teamed up with rock bands - with combinations such as Roni Size and Henry Rollins, Marilyn Manson and Sneaker Pimps, and Slayer and Atari Teenage Riot.

Which soundtracks stand out for you?

Just heard that the legend that is Michael "Wacko Jacko" Jackson has died. Heart attack apparently. Can't get confirmation because I'm sat in a caravan in an apocalyptic thunderstorm. If it's true then it's sad news indeed.
